Hello and welcome to my first attempt at blogging. This is a blog created to be an example of an interactive learning tool for students.

Blogging an be an exciting way to engage students in and outside of the class room. Blogging allows students to provide feedback to material on their own time and schedule. Students are able to lead and join conversations that will supplement class discussion. Blogging provides the opportunity for students who may not feel comfortable responding in class to join in and participate in another medium. One of the most exciting features of blogs is that it allows the students to take an ative role in the learning process. They are able to start and direct conversations., They are able to find and share other resources that relate to materials being discussed in class. If they find a website, youtube video, podcast or pictures that relate to what is being discussed in class they have a forum to share it. Blogs allow the student to become engaged and involved in the learning process, and encourages them to seek out connections to the material in other contexts. Blogs also have archives of all of the discussions, which are helpful for students looking to review material for the class. It would also be helpful for teachers looking to get sense of the how the discussions have developed over the semester in order to plan out their classes in the future.

An example of an excercise that could be posted on the blog:

As we begin to study some of the plays of Shakespeare, it is important to understand the role that he has played in the modern world.

In order to gain a better idea of the influence of William Shakespeare on culture and literature, please find three references to the Bard himself or one of his plays in modern culture and media.

Please try and be as diverse as possible in the mediums presented (ie. books, articles, plays, movies, music etc.)
